A day in a forest on Lake Como, we work with natural light together with an exceptional muse who comes from Belgium.

About Kim

Kim is an experienced model with over two years of experience. She lives in Belgium and adapts to different styles. She is calm, friendly and very creative she loves the arts, photography and gets excited about thinking outside the box. She loves nature and becoming one with her surroundings. She isn’t afraid of a little cold or discomfort and likes to immerse herself in emotional states and move in front of the camera.

Kim is a chameleonic model and she can easily adapt to many different styles, from portraits to artistic nude. She loves to create artistic, dark, mystical, conceptual, bizarre, surreal, alternative and melancholic photos.

About me

I entered the world of photography in 2017, after seeing an exhibition by Francesca Salice. I am self taught. I started with the nude using silicone dolls as big as Barbie trying to reproduce them as if they were human beings – very often those who see the images believe they are real people.

After some experiments mostly in studio, in 2019 I started producing nude images in a forest. Since then I produce mainly nude art.

In 2020 I realized that in order to be called a "photograph", an image must be printed. So I started working on a project, nudeartzine, and produced more than 30 publications, 30 small monographs, each dedicated to an artist.

Thanks to this project I was able to understand things that, alone, I would never have understood.

This workshop is a new experiment, I’d like to understand if I can offer ideas, inspiration to other people, regardless of whether they already produce nude art or not.

This is why I’m not asking anything for myself, the cost will cover what the muse requested: a special woman with whom we talked about photography for several hours and in the end we decided to try to work together in a different way, starting from this “workshop experiment”.

I’ve never worked with Kim before but from what we’ve told each other, she seems to be a real muse –we are full of “models” who only sell themselves for money but who have absolutely no idea about what the art of photography is…

About the workshop

Maximum: 5 participants.
Available spots: 2.

Date to be established, it will be one the 11 and/or 12 November 2023 pending the number of participants.

We think it is more interesting for everyone to work in groups as small as possible, so we will organize so that we only have two (maximum three) participants for each day – which will allow you to work together with Kim with more calm than the usual workshops (at least the ones I attended) or simple “model sharing” (which I hate).

If we don’t have at least 4 participants, I’m afraid it won’t be possible to organize.

Agenda

The day will start at 9:00 in Como, we will immediately leave for the mountains, the journey takes about 45 minutes, and we will stop just before arriving for a quick coffee.

We’ll spend the whole day together and when we’re out of light – usually around 5 pm at that time –we go back to Como.

We’ll do some theory first –I’d say a maximum of an hour –and then move on to practice in turns.
During the practical phase, while one of you works with Kim, the other can delve into the topics they prefers with me and ask me whatever he/she wants.

Personally, I only did one workshop with a photographer who loves my work and I’m not sure if I can define that experience as a real workshop. But I have always worked for the quality and satisfaction of my clients (even when I was dealing with a completely different business) and therefore I am convinced that the day will bring you many ideas and inspiration for your future work, as well as a beautiful series of images.

I’ll explain how I use the light in the woods, what gear I’ve used to date, and how to plan sessions in the woods. We can also talk about many topics always related to the world of photography, in this regard I would like to know if there is something in particular that you would like to talk more about.

Here are some topics:
  • My why: what prompted me to create artistic nude images and how it changed my life
  • Picture selection: perhaps the hardest part
  • Post–production: which tools to use and how to train
  • Print: a photo isn’t a photo until you print it
  • Social and sharing sites: my point of view
  • Platforms to find models: which ones work and which ones don’t
  • How to find new models
  • Professional ethics before, during and after the session

Communication with Kim will be in English: I can act as a translator if she needs to but if you speak English it would be optimal.

Costs

The price of the workshop is 175 Euro per person to be paid no later than September 30th by bank transfer and includes:
  • A day with Kim and myself in a wood on Lake Como
  • If you travel from abroad, transport to and from the forest in my car –Citröen C3 Picasso, about 45 minutes of travel each way
  • A video call lasting up to 60 minutes some time after the workshop –in any case by the end of January 2024 –for any questions and/or clarifications

Should the weather be adverse, we’ll go to work in an abandoned asylum – about 35 minutes by car from Como – where the light conditions are often similar to the woods.

A full refund is foreseen only and exclusively in these cases:
  • We do not reach the minimum quota of 4 participants
  • Kim – for reasons beyond her control – is unable to travel

Unfortunately we cannot refund in other cases as the fee is used to cover Kim’s travel and stay costs in Como.

In any case, if we receive more than 4 participants, it will be possible to withdraw with a penalty of 30 Euro –always and only until at least 4 other participants remain.
